Field notes / Audits
AuditsWhat is a digital credibility audit?
"Free audit" is one of the most abused phrases in marketing. Half the time it means a salesperson runs your URL through an automated scanner, reads you the red warnings, and quotes a rebuild. So here is exactly what a real digital credibility audit is, what ours covers, and how to tell the difference.
What it is
A digital credibility audit is a structured review of everything a customer sees before they decide to trust you: your website, your Google presence, your reviews, and your ongoing marketing. The output is a ranked list of what is costing you customers, ordered by impact, with the evidence for each finding. Not a grade. Not a scare tactic. A punch list.
What a real audit checks
- Website: first-impression clarity, calls to action, page speed on mobile data, mobile usability, stale content, broken links and dead ends.
- Google visibility: search ranking for your money keywords, map-pack position, Google Business Profile completeness, name/address/phone consistency.
- Reviews and trust: review count, rating, recency, response rate, and whether proof appears on your own site.
- Marketing: if you run ads, where the spend is wasted; if you do not, what the cheapest first channel would be.
What the report contains
Our written report has three parts: what we found (with screenshots), what it is costing you (stated plainly, no invented dollar figures), and what to fix first (ranked by impact, with the quick wins separated from the projects). You keep the report whether or not we ever work together. That is the whole point: if the audit were only useful as a sales tool, it would not be worth doing.
What it costs
Ours costs nothing: a 15-minute call, three quick wins you can use immediately, and the written report within 24 hours. No card, no contract. If your audit turns up nothing worth fixing, we will tell you that too. Paid engagements start at $10,000 and are scoped from what the audit finds, so you only ever pay to fix real, measured problems.
How to spot a fake audit
- It is fully automated: a scanner report with your logo pasted on it, no human judgment.
- Every finding leads to the same recommendation: a full rebuild, quoted before the call ends.
- It invents numbers: "you are losing $47,000 a year" with no math shown.
- You do not get to keep the report unless you sign something.
- It never mentions the free or cheap fixes. Real audits are full of them.
The test we hold ourselves to: after reading our report, you should be able to hand it to any developer, designer, or marketer and have them execute it without us. If the report only makes sense as a pitch for our services, we failed.
What happens after
Three outcomes, all fine. One: the quick wins are enough and you handle the rest yourself. Two: you want us to execute the bigger fixes, and we scope an engagement from the report. Three: you do nothing, and you still know exactly where you stand. We built the audit to be useful in all three cases.
If you want a faster signal first, try the 3-minute self-audit tool: 15 questions, instant score, same framework.
